My training and experience in sand-tray therapy with both children and adults is extensive, as well as other creative work such as painting, puppets, stories and music.

I have an interest in adult survivors of childhood abuse, coercive control, attachment issues re: parenting work of inner child, self-harm, depression, low mood, narcissistic relationships, and their effect on the individual, working with eating disorders, self-worth and confidence.

PRACTISE DESCRIPTION

I worked as a Macmillan counsellor for over 10 years, offering counselling to those with cancer as well as their families and friends. This included children with cancer and children who were affected by a family members diagnosis. This was at Eastbourne District General Hospital. This also involved working with both adults and children with terminal illnesses.

For almost 3 years I worked with individuals dealing with addictions at CRI. This was focused on helping those with addictions with drugs and alcohol. I have also worked with gambling, food and sex addictions.

I have worked in a secondary school as a counsellor, providing support to children.

Eating disorders are something I work with, including Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, EDNOS and obesity. This includes working on the eating disorder and also the underlying issues and triggers that cause it.

I also am trained in Couples Counselling. I help enable couples to understand their own needs as well as the needs of their partners.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN

As children we view the world as a different place than an adult will. Our brains, and therefore our emotions, are not fully developed yet and so many issues that will arise around us such as divorce, loss and bereavement which can be difficult to cope with. The child may need help to be able to process these. This is why play and creative art is so very important, as it allows us to get in touch with emotions without the use of verbal language.

I am an Certified Practitioner of Therapeutic Play Skills, having gained my Level 7 Post-Graduate Certificate In Therapeutic Play Skills.

I am trained in play therapy using items such as drawing, painting, puppets and stones. I have also trained in art therapy and sand tray therapy.

I have experience of working privately with children. From 2006 onwards I have had my own private clients who I have seen weekly.
